This project is a speculative design concept co designed by Jingzhi Wang and Yuchen Wu, proposing a virtual experience that enables users to attend funerals through digital media. The target audience includes individuals who are unable to be physically present at significant life events due to geographical distance, time constraints, or other limitations.

The project addresses the emotional gap created by the inability to participate in important moments of farewell in an increasingly networked society. By providing an alternative mode of presence through virtual means, the design aims to mitigate feelings of absence and support emotional connection during moments of loss.</image:caption>

This project is a product design developed as a foldable inflatable float for water sports. The target audience includes water sports enthusiasts in Australia aged 15 to 45 who prefer minimal and unobtrusive safety equipment. The project addresses the need for a lightweight and portable alternative to conventional flotation devices, which are often perceived as bulky and restrictive.

By combining origami inspired folding structures with the elasticity of TPU material, the design enables the device to remain compact when stored and to rapidly inflate when deployed. The product can be worn around the waist and activated when needed, offering a balance between safety, portability, and ease of use. The project was presented as a final year work and received strong recognition for its functionality and portability at the graduation exhibition.</image:caption>

This project is a visual communication work that explores the issue of information leakage through constructed 3D scenes. The target audience includes digitally active individuals and audiences engaged with network culture. The project addresses the limited visibility of how personal data is collected, distributed, and monitored within digital environments.

Through the use of spatial metaphors, including controlled water flows and enclosed observational spaces, the work translates abstract data systems into visual forms that are more accessible and perceptible. The design aims to raise awareness and encourage critical reflection on surveillance and the conditions of visibility in contemporary digital life.</image:caption>

This project is a visual communication work that explores the tension between personal enjoyment and internalised guilt. It is targeted at individuals influenced by social expectations in their everyday behaviour. The project addresses the tendency to feel guilty about engaging in small pleasures that are perceived as unproductive or unhealthy.

Based on a survey of one hundred participants, seven common forms of guilty pleasure were identified and represented through the metaphor of the seven deadly sins. The design incorporates an interactive game that allows participants to symbolically release this sense of guilt, encouraging a more relaxed and accepting attitude towards everyday behaviours.</image:caption>

This project is an infographic design that visualises the environmental and health impact of PFAS pollution associated with DuPont. It is intended for a broad public audience. The project addresses the lack of accessible information on industrial pollution and its long term consequences.

Through data visualisation and chart based representations, the design translates complex information into a clear and structured format, highlighting real world cases where contaminated water sources have caused harm to humans and animals.</image:caption>
This project is an Instagram advertising poster created for Pepperwall, a B2B brand, to promote collaboration opportunities with designers. The target audience includes interior designers and design studios looking for reliable material partners.

The poster addresses the need for accessible and dependable specification support, which is often lacking in designer-supplier relationships. By highlighting Pepperwall’s capability to provide specification support, the design positions the brand as a credible, supportive partner throughout the design process.</image:caption>

This project is a book design focusing on binding and editorial layout. It is targeted at readers interested in contemporary culture and media consumption. The project addresses the increasing tendency to construct idealised images of public figures and to internalise these projections. The design aims to prompt reflection on the mechanisms of idolisation through a structured and deliberate visual system, encouraging critical engagement with how admiration and identity are formed.</image:caption>

Heart Showrooms – Make It Heart Campaign

This project is a two-page Instagram carousel post developed for Heart Showrooms, a B2C interior design brand offering integrated cabinetry and smart lighting solutions. Target audience: homeowners interested in interior design and home improvement. Problem: low engagement and limited visibility in a competitive social media environment.

The post supports the “Make It Heart” campaign through interactive mechanics and incentive-based rewards to encourage participation. The design adopts a clear and accessible visual approach while maintaining brand consistency. Outcome: 300+ likes and a 300%+ increase in profile reach.

This project is a zine design that explores the representation of women in visual culture. It is targeted at young adults who are active consumers of social media and visual content. The project addresses the persistence of stereotypical female roles, where women are often presented as decorative or secondary figures.

Through a series of eight roles, the design uses a confectionery inspired visual language with pastel colours to create a sense of sweetness and familiarity. This contrasts with the underlying message, where qualities such as intelligence, resilience, and independence are presented as the “hidden ingredients.” The project aims to challenge simplified perceptions of women through a clear and accessible visual approach.</image:caption>

This project is a book cover design for Today, With Us, an independently published annual poetry collection in China. The target audience includes readers of contemporary poetry and participants in independent literary communities. The cover addresses the need to visually represent a diverse and collective body of work within a single, unified identity. </image:caption>

This project is an interactive product design developed as a portable companion object. The target audience includes individuals who appreciate pets but are unable to own one due to time, space, or lifestyle constraints. The project addresses the emotional need for companionship and tactile interaction that is typically associated with pet ownership.

The design translates this need into a handheld form inspired by the body of a cat, with a soft silicone surface at the belly to simulate touch, and a fabric exterior to enhance familiarity and comfort. Integrated with Arduino based interaction, the product responds to user gestures, creating a sense of engagement and feedback. The project was presented at a semester exhibition, where it received strong positive responses and was recognised as one of the most well received works.</image:caption>

It is targeted at migrant communities and audiences interested in multicultural narratives. The poster addresses the need to communicate the film’s cultural context and themes in a clear and engaging manner, particularly for audiences navigating cross cultural identities.

This project is an Instagram carousel created for Pepperwall as part of an educational content series, which aims to highlight the gap between unit price and total project cost, positioning the brand as a lower-risk and more reliable specification choice.

The target audience includes interior designers, architects, and project decision-makers responsible for material selection and budget control. The campaign focuses on reframing how cost is evaluated—shifting from surface-level price comparison to a broader understanding of project impact, including installation, consistency, and long-term performance.</image:caption>
